At the KNOWSHOW
I had a chance to swing by the KNOWSHOW yesterday, Canada’s premiere lifestyle trade show. Lifestyle brands converge at the Vancouver Convention Centre for three days to give line previews and have face-to-face meetings with retailers. This is where the retailers pick what goes into stores, and ultimately, into your hands.
I had just under 45 minutes to spare, so I didn’t get a chance to hang out much at the media lounge. But I did manage to spot and give hugs to my favourite Starving Stylist, Peter. Always lovely, we go way back.
Even though it was freezing outside, the first line of business was checking out the L Space bikinis. You’ll find this line in stores like Kiss and Makeup in West Vancouver or Holly Boutique in Gastown.
Bright colours and prints are looks you’ll see in Mavi’s SS12 collection. Also spotted on the racks, the pretty red denim shirt that Rachel McAdams is rockin’ on the February cover of Glamour.
I ran into Miriam Alden, you might remember her from this industry insider interview back in 2010. The navy blue silk blazer she’s holding up is from Quiksilver Women’s fall collection.
The tough part of these shows is wanting to take things home right off the racks.I’d like that, and that, and that please…
Now this is what I call a set-up, the folks at Element.
Loving the jewellery from OBEY CLOTHING.
What we’ll be seeing in stores the next while? Fringe detailed like this super hot L Space Fringe Benefits bikini. Prints everywhere from the Mavi jeans above to horse prints at Quiksilver Women to navajo print Tom shoes. And loads of colour, pastel orange colour blocked skinnies caught my eye at the Insight booth.
