Beauty Test Drive Time
Some of the products on my counter ready for a test drive.
A drugstore fiber mascara. This is pretty exciting. I’ve been a fan of fiber mascaras for a while, having used both Kiss Me Mascara and Imju (a Japanese mascara that is now available at Sephora). Fiber mascaras contain tiny tiny fibers that are actually within the mascara. According to Maybelline, their new Illegal Lengths Mascara $9.99 CAD contacts 4mm black fibers (most fiber mascaras have fibers that are 2mm in length). The new mascara is in drugstores at the end of January and comes in 3 washable shades and 2 waterproof shades, very black, blackest black and brownish black.
I’ve gone into the zone of using antiageing skincare. Preventative measures are a must. I’m currently using the Korres line of products (available at Shoppers Drug Mart). From left to right, Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Night Cream $59 CAD, Quercetin & Oak Antiageing and Antiwrinkle Eye Cream $55 CAD and Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum Brightening & Line Smoothing $49 CAD. Originating from Athens, Greece, the line uses natural ingredients and has its roots in homeopathy. I can’t claim that I’m a skincare expert, but I’ve been using the line for about three weeks an have noticed my skin brighter and smoother (the serum has Vitamin C).
I’m a big fan of NARS, so I’ll be looking forward to trying their new Makeup Removing Water $32 CAD. Soap-free, oil-free and alcohol-free and infused with cucumber and chamomile and hyaluronic acid. The ultimate test will be when I need to remove a smokey eye. NARS is available at Sephora and The Bay.
You may remember Glymm from Eman’s video post. How does it work? It’s pretty simple, the subscription-based service sends you 4-5 deluxe-sized luxury beauty samples every month for $10/month. Some products are deluxe sample sized and some are full-sized, like the RGB nail polish there for in steel. Perfect for those who like to try new beauty products. Or if you just need a monthly pick-me-up.
