Girl of the Week

This week’s Girl of the Week might look a little familiar. JENNA TUAZON was a finalist in the Are You Our Next Style Spy Girl? ncontest. On top of being a full-time student, Jenna also works at Plenty in Kits and writes for The Style Spy. Jenna’s one of those girls who always looks effortlessy cool - we’re sooo jealous! nSpot this super cutie at next week’s Holiday Shopping Party at Shop Cocoon. n

What are you wearing: Pumps I got from a vintage store on nMain Street, Mavi Lindys, a long tank from American Apparel, Vero Moda tank, a Free People cardigan, a gold locket, and a gold Gemini necklace from Plenty.

My favourite designers: I don’t really keep tabs on ndesigners, but if I had to choose, Orla Kiely and of course, Marc Jacobs.

My favourite labels: I’m not a label snob, if it works, it’s good.

My favourite stores or shopping places: Plenty, Urban Outfitters, True Value Vintage, American Apparel, nOxford Street in London – my heart went aflutter when I laid my eyes on the Topshop and H&M!

What’s your go-to look: Dark skinny denim, layered bright tank tops, fun cardigans, large earrings or necklaces, and a ngreat pair of boots - you can’t go wrong.

What would you never wear: nEveryday is a random experience, so I really can’t say. But I definitely do not dig shirts that expose your middle area.

What can you never get enough of: Neon tank tops, bright tights, flannel plaid shirts, long earrings, owls nand mango bubble tea.

Your most prized accessory: My heart shaped sunglasses from nTopshop in London.

Favourite girls with style: The girls of nGossip Girl!

Damage Control

With below zero temps, I’ve been loading on the lip balm and moisturizer. But I just realized, I’ve been completely neglecting my hair! The transition into cold weather (along with indoor heat) has made my hair dry, coarse and no longer oh-so-shiny. So what’s a girl to do? Pantene Pro-V’s Time Renewal Replenishing Mask of course! Beauty expert Allure magazine listed this deep conditioner as a winner in their “Best of Beauty” issue (how can you argue with that?). Once a week is all you need to get back those luscious locks. Available at local drugstores.

Party in Monaco

The holiday parties are here! So the pressure is on to find the perfect party dress and Club Monaco isn’t a store one would think of. Instead, they’re known for their clean and timeless pieces such as black trousers and cashmere sweaters which are seen in boardrooms and not on the dance floor. But this season, step through the doors of Club Monaco and prepared to be surprised (or shocked like I was)! Take a look at the gorgeous satin colour block dress ($189) that I fell for. Love it!

Get Her Look

She’s the fashion world’s model of the moment — and a Nu Wave, punky Brit girl with enviable, enviable style.

Agyness Deyn, born Laura Hollins, is scoring some of the biggest industry campaigns (like Burberry), landing some major glossy mag editorials and is currently the face of designer Henry Holland’s House of Holland. Speaking of which, how much did you love his “Fashion Groupie” tees emblazoned with “I’ll Show You Who’s Boss Kate Moss” and “Wham Bam Thank You Stam”? We loved!

Deyn can put on any number of seemingly contradictory sartorial choices and make is look good…damn good. We just can’t get over her quirky Pete Doherty-meets-Fred Astaire look here. The fantastic thing is that you can easily put together this outfit with a few stops at some local shops. Here’s how to do it:

1. The hat is key. Thankfully, Urban Outfitters has a slew of mens-inspired hats to choose from. A routine stop at the store this weekend revealed two or three that fit the bill. You’ll also find those colored socks here, too, or next door at American Apparel.

2. Graphic tees are pretty de rigeur these days. You can go with a solid bright from American Apparel, but we kind of dig the ones from Lifetime Collective – check out the Wonder Woman tee. To really go graphically original, check out sites like Threadless. Agyness is wearing a sleeveless, but an actual tee works just as well.

3. Striped scarves are easy as pie to seek out. The Gap has them by the dozens.

4. For the jazz shoes, the clothing side of Gravity Pope has a great selection of patent white and black ones housed in glass cases near the front of the store. You can also troll stores like The Dance Shop on West Broadway for the real deal.

5. Any menswear store carries suspenders. Just make sure you pick out the skinny kind.

6. J Brand’s Skinny Low-Rise Jean in Jett is short enough to show off the colored socks and jazz shoes. They’re not quite the flood pants Agyness is sporting, but they’ll be just as tight.

7. For the final touches – namely the leather goods – peruse the racks at Aldo or Vivid for vibrant square-bottom bags and check out the Mike & Chris site for short jackets.

The only thing we won’t get you to do is chop-chop your hair off into a pixie and dye it peroxide blonde.

That look isn’t for everyone – just maybe only for a certain Miz Deyn.
