Girl of the Week

Girl of the Week, ADELA CHOW. Super sidekick and bff to new Style Spy contributor Nicole. An ice cream fanatic (yes, even on a cold day like today) and recent Twitter convert, Adela can be found hanging out at some of the coolest hot spots (we hear she was at Glowbal’s newest venture The Society last night). Meet Adela…

I’m wearing… BB Dakota trench, Zara dress, Forever 21 stockings, Seychelles dos-i-do booties, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Annabella Designs Owl on Branch necklace, Pyrrha Letter A necklace and Forever 21 rose necklace.

Top shops…Urban Outfitters, Johnathan + Olivia, The Block, Aritzia, Forever 21, Zara, American Apparel, Holt, Front & Company and Lushuz. The list does go on, but it would never end. I shop all over. If I find something I like, I don’t really care where it is from.

Most recent purchase…Zara grey high-waist pleated peg-leg dress pants.

On the wish list…John Fluevog Mitte shoes in black.

Weekday staple… Jeans, blazer and a white t-shirt. Never under estimate the power and sexiness of a woman in a white t-shirt and jeans.

Weekend staple…Clutches, especially my Club Monaco navy blue embossed snake skin print clutch.

Current obsession… Chanel Multi Handle Tweed Tote. I keep staring at it, but it still isn’t in my hands, around my shoulder or on my arms!

Bags, Shoes or Jewellery…I want to say all, but let’s just go with bags. I will probably be that little old lady with all the bags… and cats.

Beauty fix…Blush in MAC Buff and Mascara in Too Faced Last Injection. Blush and mascara are definitely beauty products I cannot live without. Talk about helping my no-sleep face look awake again.

Signature scent…L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani.

Guilty pleasure…Panties - and that gift from Nicole from Panty by Post does not add to this disease. Nail polish. Kit Kat bars - I just keep telling myself I need a break. Scarves - silk ones and all. Last but not least, swimsuits.

I Did It And Then I Quit It

A rendezvous with an ex-boyfriend, dinner with the Fakelmeyers and another fashion party under her belt, it’s just another day for Whitney in The City. Let’s take a fashionable Soho stroll through episode 5.

- Kell has frozen over because Kelly Cutrone is not in her usual black crew neck top. Lovin’ the colours.
- Good thing Whitney erred on the side of conservative chic for her date with Freddie since ‘surprise!’, daddy Fackelmeyer is joining us for dinner. Fashion aside, this whole bring dad to dinner situation is so not kosher for a second date.
- The degree of orange-ness seems to be intensifying on Freddie’s face as this horribly awkward date continues. Not a good look.
- Yikes, Freddie’s blue and white gingham shirt is just way to casual for the Longchamp event and his hair is rather raga muffin like. Let’s bring Jay back instead of this tanorexic daddy toting mister.
- Whitney’s hair looked so effortlessly pretty in its loose waves when she busted out her ‘Single Ladies’ moves. Too bad she pulled it back into a ponytail at the party. But Whitney gets an ‘A’ for the crinkled tinfoil like dress. I like.
- Erin rocked the simple yet so pretty ensembles again tonight: the white sheath dress at the prep meeting and the cranberry coloured ruffled tank dress at the party. Effortless style is what I envy.
- While Olivia always looks chic and oh so superior no matter the occasion, not sure I’m feeling the over the top black sequined/scalloped frock at the party…
- But she is redeemed because the Birkin re-appears in this episode. Birkin, I missed you.

Best Outfit of the Night: Whitney’s black dress and layered necklace on her date with Freddie and Mr. Fakelmeyer. Totally grown up, sophisticated and chic. Filing that outfit in my mental closet.

Needs a Restyle: Freddie’s blue and white Gingham shirt has got to go, period.

Wild Things

With cherished childhood storybook ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ making it to the big screen, I’m in a wild animal state of mind. For one, I’ve become wild for warm and luscious faux fur vests. These statement vests offer a totally glam boho kind of style that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe knows oh so well and I for one follow her fashionable teachings closely. And second, animal prints are fun and sassy and even classy if worn sparingly as an accent piece. Unleash your animal instincts and go where the wild things are.

Fur Coat, H&M

Industry Insider: Malania Dela Cruz

We caught with local gal Malania Dela Cruz, principal/agency director of Dela Cruz PR. Translation: she creates media buzz for fashion, entertainment and lifestyle brands. Malania, we want to know what you’re most looking forward to this fall…

Candace Ang Sargent Pepper’s Necklace
I have been a fan of Vancouver ex-pat Candace Ang’s jewelry for years. Her Sargent Pepper’s necklace is perfect for dressing up t-shirt and jeans or adding colour to a little black dress.

Common Beauty I Love Red Lip Gloss Palette
My ultimate accessory for any season is red lipstick. I buy this Common Beauty palette every year because I love mixing and matching the reds to suit my mood.

Kimchi & Blue Floral Paperbag Neck Top, Urban Outfitters
What drew my attention to this blouse was the gold zippered detailing on the back. Not to mention i absolutely LOVE floral prints.. and it’s got pockets too!

lily+jae Pinto Peacoat
lily+jae’s take on the traditional pea coat is one of my fave’s for Fall. The three quarter length sleeves and cropped waist give it a rebellious motorcycle jacket feel.

Loeffler Randall Black Leather Over-The-Knee Boot
A big trend for Fall is the over-the-knee high boots. This pair can be worn up or folded at the knee. Great for when you want to wear leggings.

Matix Clothing 5 Pocket Slim Denim in Mineral Wash Charming
A modern take on acid wash. The 80s just won’t seem to die so let’s rock this slim denim just a little while longer!
