Let’s Join Forces

Roxy and Whitney go on disastrous blind dates and later Whitney is the victim (yet again) of a verbal smack down from Kelly for dishing on said disastrous dates during office time. Erin shoots dirty looks at Olivia over dinner and Joe Zee is again none the wiser. It’s all a little scary and whole lotta catty. Let’s go on a bad blind date through the fashion on episode 8 of The City.

- I love….oh sorry, lost my train of thought. I was completely mesmerized by all the fashion goodness in the Elle fashion closet and too busy imagining it as my own. Ok snapping out of it, Erin’s leather motorcycle is tough chic. Clearly Joe Zee isn’t up for it so Erin needs to dress the part in showing Olivia who’s boss.
- Whitney’s looking stylishly casual yet put together in her tribal print mini dress, leather bomber and boots. The earthy tones work for her. Girl sure loves her mini dresses though.
- Whitney’s blind date Patrick: “So do you shop on 5F?” and “Meet me at LV?” – Interesting. Whitney works in fashion and she has no idea what either of these are? Seriously, where does MTV find these guys? (side note, for us from the true north, 5F is the contemporary level at department store/fashion museum, Bergdorf Goodman). I hate to say it, but bring back the Fackelmeyer brothers. At least they were tantastic.
- OMG, Roxy actually isn’t visually assaulting us this week with a hot mess of an outfit. She’s sporting a respectable trench coat, skirt and blouse on her date with Zac. Looks like someone finally got the memo on more class and less trash
- Even at home, Whitney wears a bedazzled sweatshirt mini dress. Nice.
- I love how Olivia styling the Brooklyn Decker shoot equates to Olivia picking out a watches to go with the outfits.
- I spoke too soon, Roxy brings back the trash when she gives Zac not one, but two middle fingers behind his back. But I’ll forgive it given Zac’s ungentleman like behavior.
- I want to comment on Erin’s red dress at the Elle magazine dinner with Cobra Starship but 1) I can’t see enough of it and 2) Erin looks so annoyed with Olivia, her dirty looks are burning a hole through my television.
- Whitney’s mini dress at work at the People’s Revolution office is intergalactic. Again, Whitney rocks the mini dress like it’s going out of style.

Best Outfit of the Night – Tie between Olivia and Roxy’s date outfit. Loved Olivia’s black and grey striped jacket. So striking and classy. But I have to give Roxy credit for the much needed and improved outfit selection this week.

Needs a Restyle - Whitney’s blind date Patrick. The shirt, the hair, the attitude and the manners (“let’s join forces” on the bill?!). It all needs to go.

And finally, I can’t resist leaving you all with my favorite Kelly Cutrone quote of the evening: “Do not make me listen to that. It’s bad enough that I have to listen to Roxy’s voice in my office.” Oh Kelly, your verbal assaults never disappoint. Until next week.

I have to say Patrick was lame, but Whitney doesn’t know what “LV” stands for?

Both were lame. Can’t believe Whitney didn’t know what “LV” stood for.

Great recap Jan, a lot better than the episode itself. Zac is a straight up DB. Patrick isn’t any better. It still annoys me that Joe can’t see through Olivia - Team Erin all the way. I hope this week’s episode is better!
