Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending an exclusive event that was held at Holt Renfrew to celebrate the worldwide launch of Burberry Beauty. The British luxury fashion house has dabbled in everything from clothing to fragrance; therefore, it only made sense for Burberry to take the next step into the world of beauty.

Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey, states that Burberry Beauty is a “natural extension of what they’re already doing”. After being in development for two and a half years, the Burberry Beauty line was ready to be revealed to the world. Recognized for their famous tartan pattern, Burberry is also well-known for their classic trench coats. The trench is one of the main inspirations behind Burberry Beauty, which is evident in the natural colour palette of nude tones along with hints of blush and smokey blues and purples. Bailey describes the Burberry Beauty lines as a “subtle layer between you and the elements. The collection is evocative of the trench coat and reflects the same attitude as Burberry girls; relaxed and easy while being incredibly sophisticated and elegant at the same time.”

Aside from mingling with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, I took the opportunity to try on the Burberry Lip Cover in No. 10 “Dusty Rose”, which was a perfect, subtle pink that enhanced the natural colour of my own lips. The Lip Cover is described as “super light, ’second skin’ texture”, which I can definitely vouch for because it felt like I was wearing nothing and yet my lips were so luminous.

Overall, I had a lovely time running into familiar faces while getting to know Burberry Beauty first hand. So the next time you’re Downtown at Pacific Centre, be sure to drop by the Burberry Beauty counter at Holt Renfrew!
