Spotted. Girl of the Week NIKI BLASINA sipping cocktails at Sanafir with an oh-so-stylish entourage, that included one of our fave boys, Peter from The Starving Stylist. Pretty and polished, Niki had just the right mix for the afterwork soiree. A PR coordinator for the local handbag line Sienna Ray and fashion consultant at Leone, Niki is also a blogger with the perfectly titled A Haute Mess. Meet Niki.
I’m wearing: H&M sequined jacket, Marciano strapless dress, Christian Louboutin peep toes, BCBG Max Azria necklace, vintage belt and a vintage clutch.
My personal style is: All over the place. Sometimes very feminine, sometimes very menswear inspired. Sometimes very trendy or vintage-y or boho or rock & roll! Seriously all over the place, I like to try everything.
My style inspiration comes from: Everywhere - from the streets to the runways with magazines and blogs in between!
Fave vintage shopping spots: I love shopping for vintage on Commercial Drive at Little Miss Vintage and Mintage, and I love a good trip to Value Village. Except I hit up the ones in suburbia, they always have hidden treasures.
Last purchase: The sequin jacket I’m wearing. I had been looking for a vintage one for ages and ages and alas, it was H&M to come through for me.
Next purchase: A pair of flat over-the-knee boots.
Fave item in my closet: My vintage Yves Saint Laurent babydoll dress.
Cannot get enough of: Pleasure Doing Business bandage skirts - I have a black one and a pink one and am debating getting another one! They’re just so easy to wear and I always feel good when I have one on.
Most looking forward to this fall: Layering! Every outfit I’ve daydreamed about for fall involves over-the-knee boots and layers of lace, leather and chunky knits. I can’t wait. I’m also super excited for BC Fashion Week. I’ll be writing some of the dailies and am really looking forward to attending the shows and seeing all the talent we have here at home.
Must-have beauty products: Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer - it makes your skin so smooth so your makeup goes on perfectly and lasts all day.
Any fashion advice for our loyal readers: As my good friend Peter says - Just belt it! Throwing on a cool belt or statement accessory can always pull a look together. And never be afraid to wear something outrageous or say you “can’t pull something off” - wear what you love and just rock it!
Dining hot spot: Zakkushi on West 4th for Japanese tapas and Chambar always blows my mind with delicious eats, an amazing selection of Belgian beer and great service. And I’m not gonna lie… Fritz fries are my weakness after a night on the town!
